The GVC (General Visual Line of Sight Certificate) Pilot Course provides comprehensive training for drone operators to safely and legally fly drones within visual line of sight. The course covers essential topics, including airspace principles, airmanship, human performance, navigation, meteorology, aircraft knowledge, operations manual creation, theory assessment preparation, and flight assessment readiness.

Our CAA Approved face-to-face GVC Course is a remote pilot competency certificate that is suitable for most VLOS operations within the specific category. The GVC is required for operations that cannot be done within the Open category and an A2 CofC. You do not need to complete the online modules before your face-to-face teaching, these are simply made available to you to ensure lifetime access. *Please speak to a member of our admissions team BEFORE purchasing this course.

This course offers a comprehensive overview and guidance for creating an effective operations manual for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations, tailored to the UK context. The course consists of four modules that cover key topics such as safety policies, organisational structure, and operational procedures. With detailed instructions and practical tips, participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to develop a robust and compliant operations manual, ensuring safe and efficient UAS operations in accordance with UK regulations.

The scope of this course is to bring you up to speed with the current EU-UAS regulations which became effective on 31/12/2020. If you have a PfCO, with this course, you can convert to a GVC to be compliant with these new regulations. Given your previous experience and competence, we can exempt you from the requirement to sit a GVC Practical Flight Assessment.

Module 1 – Safe Flight: This module ensures that drone operators are equipped with the knowledge and skills to operate drones safely in various scenarios. Topics include Crew Resource Management, Competency in Different Scenarios, Flying in Urban Areas, Emergency or Abnormal Procedures, BVLOS/EVLOS operations, Equipment Checks, Communication and Coordination Planning, Safe RPAS Ditching Techniques, and keeping logs for Flight, Maintenance, and Batteries. Module 2 – Thermal Imagery: A crucial module for those looking to enhance their expertise in thermal imagery. Learn about Thermal Imagery Theory, Heat Transfer, Infrared Cameras, and the various considerations when using a thermal camera. Understand the principles of Reflected Apparent Temperature and master the techniques for effective display and interpretation of thermal data.
